P. Zanardi et C. Calandra, CHARGE AND ENERGY EXCHANGE BETWEEN A METAL AND A 2-LEVEL PARTICLE IN A METASTABLE STATE, Surface science, 290(1-2), 1993, pp. 141-154
The interaction with a metal of a two-level particle having two electr
ons in the triplet configuration has been studied using a time-depende
nt Newns-Anderson Hamiltonian under the assumption that the intra-atom
ic Coulomb repulsion terms are large compared to the matrix elements o
f the metal-particle interaction potential. Using perturbation theory
explicit expressions of the transitions amplitudes for the processing
occurring to second order in the interaction potential have been deriv
ed, thus allowing for the calculation of the spectral function up to f
ourth order. Results for a model system are presented that emphasize t
he importance of correlation terms in the various processes.
