This project has designed and implemented a decision support tool for
business planning based upon information from market research. The too
l is an integrated solution, based upon a knowledge-based system, data
base, numerical processing and analysis of the user's own skills. The
paper will show how the knowledge required was represented within the
system and how the knowledge-based component was integrated with the r
est of the system. The knowledge encapsulated within this system is ba
sed upon the findings of the PIMS (Profit Impact of Marketing Strategy
) project, supported by portfolio analysis.
