Rs. Zhurbenko et al., STUDY OF THE POSSIBILITY OF USING BACTERIOLOGICAL WHOLE-BLOOD PEPTONEAS NUTRIENT MEDIUM FOR THE CULTIVATION OF MICROORGANISMS, Zurnal mikrobiologii, epidemiologii i immunobiologii, (2), 1993, pp. 23-27
Study of some parameters of the process of hydrolysis in addition to o
ther experiments has made it possible to develop a method for obtainin
g a nutrient base for the cultivation of microorganisms with the use o
f cattle whole blood as protein substrate and papain as a hydrolyzing
agent. The product thus obtained is characterized by high levels of am
ino and total nitrogen (4% and 14% respectively). Biological studies w
ith the use of this product in different culture media and observation
s on the growth and characteristics of many microbial strains have sho
wn the possibility of its use for the diagnosis of infectious diseases
, for the control of the quality of foodstuffs and water.
