Abstract
By a comparative study and by calibration, Raman spectroscopy is estab lished as a non-destructive method for the determination of the monome r concentration in solid poly(methyl methacrylate) samples. Although t he effect of the internal field on the refractive index and on the Ram an intensity of a polymer solution in a monomer is considered, the Ram an scattering cross section of the carbonyl stretching vibration of th e monomer turns out to be more than twice as large as that of the poly mer.
