The thermal emission spectrum of TiS has been recorded with Fourier tr
ansform spectroscopy in two different regions, 10000-12600 cm-1 and 60
00-8600 cm-1, with a resolution of 0.05 cm-1. The first region covers
the C3DELTA-X3DELTA system while the second region covers the previous
ly unobserved A3PHI-X3DELTA and E3PI-X3DELTA systems. Lines from 18 di
fferent vibrational bands were included in the analysis. Of these, 9 b
elong to the C3DELTA-X3DELTA system, 8 to the A3PHI-X3DELTA system, wh
ile only the (0, 0) band was observed in the E3PI-X3DELTA system. No s
atellite transitions were observed. Molecular constants have been dete
rmined for the four states. A perturbing state causing the observed lo
cal perturbations in the C3DELTA1 substate is suggested. The electron
configurations of the four states have been discussed in terms of obse
rved bond lengths.
