THE BIOLOGY OF WOUND FLUID

The composition and biologic activity of wound fluid has recently beco me the subject of increasing interest. Among the potential benefits to be gained from a study of wound fluid are a better understanding of t he factors essential to the normal repair process as well as clues to the pathogenesis of chronic wounds and their failure to heal. In this report, we review the methods used to collect wound fluid and what is known of its composition and biologic effects.
