Abstract
Intercalation compounds of natural and commercial graphites with MgCl2 have been synthesized by a high temperature heterogeneous phase react ion. The stoichiometry of the compounds was found by chemical analysis , and the structure has been examined by powder X-ray diffraction. The intercalation compounds were found to be stable up to 800-degrees-C w hich is contradictory to previously reported results.
