Abstract
The descent of solid and liquid materials and their distribution in th e blast furnace and the effect on this of increasing the proportion of pellets in the burden from 33 to 100% have been investigated on an in dustrial furnace. It is considered that efficient operation is promote d by charging and blowing conditions ensuring the formation of radial combustion zones and a decrease in the quantity of pellets at the furn ace wall.
