Abstract
Millscale formation is reduced and the structure and strength of the m etal are improved by using inline cooling devices on 325 and 280 small section mills. The feasibility and effectiveness of accelerated cooli ng of high carbon tool and bearing steels, rolling of structural steel s with a controlled temperature in the final passes and accelerated co oling after rolling, and rolling with targeted action on the temperatu re of stock of stainless steels before the cooling bed of the mill hav e been studied. The inline accelerated cooling of 12-40 mm diameter ba rs in 280 and 325 small section mills is an effective means of produci ng high quality products of the various types of steel, shortening the length of heat treatment at the steelworks and eliminating it entirel y at engineering works.
