INTERCONVERSION OF HYDROSULFIDO AND SULFIDO LIGANDS IN PERMETHYLZIRCONOCENE COMPLEXES

The bis(hydrosulfido) complex Cp2Zr(SH)2 is dehydrogenated by CP*2Zr( CO)2 to give [Cp2Zr(SH)]2-(mu-S), but further dehydrogenation to give [Cp2Zr(mu-S)]2 is not observed. Together with other studies, these r esults indicate that, contrary to the original report, the product of the reaction between Cp2Zr(CO)2 and H2S is the hydrosulfido complex [ Cp2Zr(SH)]2(mu-S) and not the sulfido complex [Cp*2Zr(mu-S)]2.
