Abstract
The air drying technique, widely used in animal cytogenetics, was adap ted for use with Zea mays L. chromosomes. Using a simple protocol with out enzymatic maceration and avoiding the inconvenience of the squashi ng technique, good staining and C-banding were obtained from maize chr omosome preparations.
