Abstract
Female channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) ovulated reliably after t hey were injected with human chorionic gonadotropin or carp pituitary. Male blue catfish (I. furcatus) injected with luteinizing hormone-rel easing hormone could be stripped of a clear fluid containing some viab le sperm. These preliminary experiments indicate that controlled artif icial spawning of channel catfish may be possible after induction proc edures are refined.
