Mf. Levin et al., SONOLUCENT PERIPANCREATIC MASSES - DIFFERENTIAL-DIAGNOSIS AND RELATEDIMAGING, Canadian Association of Radiologists journal, 44(3), 1993, pp. 168-175
The most common cause of a sonolucent mass in the epigastrium is a pan
creatic pseudocyst; however, several other conditions can simulate a p
seudocyst on ultrasonography (US) scans. This pictorial essay illustra
tes the spectrum of conditions that may present in this fashion and de
monstrates the use of other imaging modalities, such as colour-flow an
d pulsed Doppler US, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging a
nd angiography, in their evaluation.
