C. Dartoy et al., EPIPHYSEAL FRACTURE-AVULSION OF THE DISTAL EXTREMITY OF THE CLAVICLE - A CASE-REPORT, La Semaine des hopitaux de Paris, 69(22), 1993, pp. 670-673
Fracture of the clavicle is the commonest fracture in children. It is
generally due to direct trauma to the shoulder. Orthopaedic treatment
usually ensures consolidation within three weeks. Fracture of the late
ral third is uncommon and unusual. It corresponds to an epiphyseal avu
lsion of the distal extremity of the clavicle, equivalent to acromiocl
avicular << pseudodislocation >>. The coracoclavicular ligaments remai
n intact. Surgical reduction of the clavicle in its periosteal sheath
is necessary. The authors report a case of fracture of the lateral thi
rd of the clavicle in a 5 and a half year old child with spontaneous f
ormation of a << neoclavicle >>.
