R. Bharuthram et Pk. Shukla, DRIFT-WAVE INSTABILITY IN THE PRESENCE OF IMPURITY RADIATION COOLING IN COLLISIONAL PLASMAS, Plasma physics and controlled fusion, 35(2), 1993, pp. 151-162
Dissipative-drift wave instability has been studied in the presence of
impurity radiation. A two-fluid model is employed to derive the relev
ant equations. A general local dispersion relation is derived. The lat
ter is analysed analytically as well as numerically. It is found that
drift waves are further destabilized in the presence of impurity radia
tion loss. Non-thermal fluctuations are shown to cause both cross-fiel
d particle and electron energy transports. The present results can hav
e relevance to tokamak edge plasma turbulence.
