Jr. Brauer et Bs. Brown, MIXED-DIMENSIONAL FINITE-ELEMENT MODELS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC COUPLING AND SHIELDING, IEEE transactions on electromagnetic compatibility, 35(2), 1993, pp. 235-241
Finite elements of dimensions 0, 1, 2, and 3 are used to model electro
magnetic coupling and shielding. Elements of dimension 0 represent cir
cuit elements, while those of dimension 1 can represent wires. In addi
tion to ordinary two- and three-dimensional (2- and 3-D) finite elemen
ts, asymptotic (ABC) finite elements are discussed for modeling fields
extending to infinity. The models with finite elements of mixed dimen
sion are first used to compute capacitance and inductance matrices and
their related coupled voltages and currents. Finally, a mixed-dimensi
onal finite-element model is made of an electromagnetic shielding encl
osure, for which the computed dynamic leakage fields are shown to agre
e with measurement.
