A previously developed unsteady embedded Newtonian theory has been ext
ended to be able to predict the hypersonic unsteady aerodynamics of ax
isymmetric bodies of general shape with the accuracy needed for prelim
inary design. The static aerodynamics determined by a three-dimensiona
l finite difference method are used together with unsteady embedded Ne
wtonian flow concepts to provide the vehicle dynamics without signific
antly adding computational time to the static computer program.
