Abstract
The lattice parameters of UPd5-xAux alloys together with their magneti c susceptibility, magnetization and electrical resistivity characteris tics are presented. A change in the crystal structure from the cubic A uCu3-type to the cubic AuBe5-type occurs around x = 1.5. Substitution of one Au atom for one Pd atom in UPd5 suppresses its antiferromagneti sm to temperatures below 4.2 K. The experimental data of UPd3Au2 and U Pd2.5Au2.5 are discussed in terms of ferromagnetic spin fluctuations a nd those of UPd2Au3 in terms of the Kondo behaviour.
