Abstract
In this paper we review an Italian series of resected primary malignan t tumors of the liver, with special reference to hepatocellular carcin oma, according to the classification criteria proposed by Japanese aut hors. The study emphasizes the presence of a thick peritumoral capsule as the main pathological feature that would indicate survival rate af ter surgery.
