Coherent imaging techniques rely on the coherence properties of backsc
attered radiation to form an image of an illuminated object. These tec
hniques are sensitive to the degree of coherence of the illuminating s
ource. We present an approach for simulating the effects that partial
temporal coherent illumination has on these techniques. Computer simul
ation and laboratory experimental results are presented that illustrat
e illumination coherence effects on imagery obtained with the techniqu
e known as imaging correlography. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
