Electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy of 63.1 a
t.% NiAl have shown that the metastable hexagonal Ni2Al precipitate, c
oherent in the B2 matrix phase, transforms concurrently with the marte
nsitic transformation of the B2 NiAl matrix to the L1(0) phase. The Ni
2Al precipitate that is coherent with the L1(0) phase in monoclinic.
