DISLOCATION WALLS

The elastic properties of infinite perfect periodic planar dislocation walls are well known. It is however important to appreciate the effec t of the departure from periodicity and the end effects for a finite w all. A weak uncorrelated disorder is shown to result in a long range s tress field decreasing as (distance)-3/2 from the wall, consequences a re discussed. Convenient approximate closed formulae are given and dis cussed for the stress field of bounded dislocation walls.
