Abstract
The structure of vitreous silica was simulated by the molecular dynami cs technique employing a potential model which has been obtained empir ically by fitting to the structural, elastic and dielectric properties of alpha-quartz. The simulated glass structure is in excellent agreem ent with recent neutron diffraction results on vitreous silica.
