Abstract
The performance of single-ended multiangle lidar for measurements of a tmospheric extinction and backscattering is analyzed in the presence o f shot noise. An algorithm for determining the transmission coefficien t in the presence of horizontal inhomogeneities is described. The anal ysis indicates that real-time measurements of atmospheric properties w ith the multiangle lidar may be feasible even in inhomogeneous regions .
