L. Smilowitz et al., PHOTOINDUCED AND ELECTROABSORPTION SPECTROSCOPY OF A NEW, STABLE AND SOLUBLE POLYACETYLENE BLEND, Synthetic metals, 55(1), 1993, pp. 159-164
In this contribution we present results of photoinduced absorption and
electroabsortpion spectroscopy (PIA) on a new polyacetylene (PA) blen
d synthesized in dilute solutions of poly(vinylbutyral) (PVB) using ne
w catalysts [1]. The results indicate that the stability at ambient co
nditions is enhanced and that the intrinsic long lived photoexcitation
s of PA are neutral with the charged excitations becoming observable o
nly after aging the material. Measurements are made both on dilute sol
utions and films. The results are discussed in terms of morphology rel
ated stability.
