Numerical simulations using a mathematical model of the dendritic soli
dification of multicomponent alloys that includes thermosolutal convec
tion and macrosegregation were conducted on nickel-based alloys. The r
esults show that segregation patterns vary greatly with cooling condit
ions, adopting several shapes and levels of intensity. In addition, th
e segregation I patterns are particularly sensitive to the values of t
he equilibrium partition coefficients of the alloy components.
