PURIFICATION OF POTATO LEAF ROLL VIRUS (PLRV) FOR ANTISERUM PRODUCTION

An isolate of potato leaf roll virus (PLRV) was purified through enzim atic extraction, Triton X-100 and chloroform:butanol clarification, PE G precipitation, differential centrifugations, freezed and thowed sucr ose gradient and a CsCl isopicnic centrifugation. The antiserum produc ed was tested at CNPH/EMBRAPA and at other public and private institut es. The results showed a specific serum suitable for indexing programs as well as research. This concludes the potato viruses antisera produ ction program at CNPH/EMBRAPA which also have antisera for APMV, PVS, PVX and PVY.
