Water sorption isobars, isochores and isotherms for CaCl2 confined to
a microporous silica gel appear to differ from those measured for meso
porous host matrix. The sorption equilibrium was found to be of the bi
variant nature typical for liquid salt solutions. No indication for so
lid hydrate formation was recorded The results obtained evidence a sig
nificant change in the thermodynamic properties of the solution due to
its confinement to the micropores. This change is qualitatively discu
ssed on the basis of the classical model of strong electrolyte dilute
solutions.
