Yr. Kolomiyskiy et al., A NEW METHOD OF SEPARATE DETERMINATION FOR ORGANIC AND INORGANIC CARBON IN SOIL BY WET COMBUSTION UNDER REDUCED PRESSURE, Eurasian soil science, 24(9), 1992, pp. 17-33
A novel method has been developed for the separate determination of in
organic and organic forms of carbon in soil, which has been used in an
analyzer that employs a photoacoustic method of recording the CO2 rel
eased. The soil is combusted under reduced pressure with a saturated s
olution of potassium dichromate in concentrated sulfuric acid, which g
ives results more correct than those from Tyurin's method because of t
he increased oxidation of the organic material. The method also enable
s one to determine the carbon in soil carbonates on the same specimen.
The total time for the separate determination is not more than 15 min
.
