Abstract
Expert scheduling systems are being used in a variety of domains, incl uding manufacturing, personnel, aerospace, and military applications. Very little work has been done in determining when it is most appropri ate to use a particular scheduling approach in an expert system. This paper addresses this area, placing special emphasis on matching schedu ling techniques to requirements in the NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) mission planning arena.
