Total interaction cross sections have been measured for Li-8 on C and
Pb targets, for Li-9 on C, Al, Cu, Sn and Pb targets, as well as for L
i-11 on C, Sn and Pb targets at about 80 MeV/nucleon. In addition, 2n-
removal cross sections for Li-11 have been extracted. These measuremen
ts are used to determine the nuclear and the electromagnetic part of t
he cross sections for the different projectile-target combinations. Th
e experimental results are compared to different model calculations. T
hese comparisons allow one to draw conclusions on the matter density d
istribution of the neutron-rich lithium isotope Li-11. By comparing ou
r data on the electromagnetic dissociation of Li-11 with all the other
data available in the literature, we are able to put constraints on t
he dipole-strength distribution in Li-11. [GRAPH
