Abstract
This article gives practical advice and describes advantages of using a simple word processor, Norton Textra Writer (Ann Arbor Software), E- mail, and some interactive grammar exercises, PEER (by Houghton Miffli n) in basic English courses. While computers are not a panacea for all problems of basic writers, there are good reasons why English should not be taught without them.
