Abstract
A brief essay on the role immoderate anxiety plays in causing student performance to suffer. Examples from testing and teaching illustrate t he suggestion that the course work should generate the anxiety, and th e teacher continuously relieve it by coaching, encouraging, demonstrat ing, and remembering the imperfect path of progress that learning take s.
