Abstract
When a bird drops a can of orange paint on Mr. Plumbean's house the tr ansformation of what was once a very neat neighborhood begins. In an E ducational Administration class at San Jose State University students discussed how this transformation compares to the restructuring of sch ools. Who is the transformational leader? Is it Mr. Plumbean or the bi rd? Is it educationally sound for ''all of the houses'' to look differ ent from each other? How do these ideas fit with America 2000, the phi losophy of the Coalition of Essential Schools, brain compatible resear ch? ''My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and i t looks like all my dreams. ''
