Abstract
This article examines the nature of rural schools and rural communitie s with respect of teacher empowerment. Although many definitions for t eacher empowerment have been generated by the educational community, t his work focuses specifically on one definition and relates that defin itional framework directly to the rural school setting. Recommendation s for the enactment of genuine teacher empowerment opportunities in a rural school setting are offered as well.
