Electron paramagnetic resonance in YAG:Nd3+ crystals grown by the hori
zontally directed crystallization method is investigated in 8 mm range
. The upper boundary for Nd3+ ions concentration in octahedric positio
ns of YAG:Nd3+ crystals has been found not to exceed 5-7 % of the tota
l neodymium concentration in dodecahedric positions of the lattice. Fo
r the first time the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibi
lity of YAG:Nd3+ crystals grown by the method has been experimentally
investigated in 5-300 K range. A good agreement between the experiment
and the theory, assuming that all neodymium ions are only in c-positi
ons of the lattice, has been found. Neodymium ions concentration in th
e tested crystals has been determined, and the diamagnetic contributio
n to the magnetic susceptibility has been estimated.
