K. Sarimski et Iw. Hoffmann, COMPENSATORY PROCESSES IN PARENTAL COPING WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY, Zeitschrift für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie, 21(2), 1993, pp. 109-114
25 mothers of children with cerebral palsy who were doing daily intens
ive physical therapy (Vojta) completed questionnaires concerning their
child's temperament, parental attitudes and how they coped with every
day problems. Their responses were compared to those given by mothers
who were not under the stress of conducting therapy. The results revea
led compensatory coping processes: Mothers doing therapy try to compen
sate for their child's stress by being overprotective in amibuous ever
yday situations.
