Abstract
Application of the Sugasawa method to the synthesis of 2-ethyl-6-(1-hy droxyethyl)aniline, an alachlor metabolite precursor, was demonstrated to yield the desired product in high yield without contamination with other isomers in two easy steps from commercially available reagents.
