I. Shimono et al., PREPARATION OF (PB(ZR1-XTIX)O3 FIBERS BY THE ALGINATE METHOD, Nippon Seramikkusu Kyokai gakujutsu ronbunshi, 101(6), 1993, pp. 717-720
Continuous Pb(Zr1-xTix)O3 ceramic fibers have been prepared by the alg
inate method, which is based on a gelation of sodium alginate aqueous
solution by sodium ion-exchange with protons or multivalent metal ions
. In this work, a new process by use of a 5% sodium alginate aqueous s
olution mixed with ZrO2-sol and TiO2-sol has been studied. The Pb-Zr-T
i-alginate precursor fibers were converted to Pb (Zr1-xTix)O3 ceramic
fibers by firing at 1200-degrees-C for 3h. The Pb(Zr1-x Tix)O3 ceramic
fibers were examined by the powder X-ray diffraction technique and sc
anning electron microscopy.
