The hepatic flora of the Solomon Islands is still poorly known. Guadal
canal with 87 hepatic species is the best known of the seven main isla
nd groups. After the present study, San Cristobal is the second best k
nown area with its 52 species. In this paper 24 species are reported a
s new for the Solomon Islands. Additionally, Heteroscyphus mamillatus
Piippo is described as new for science; and Cylindrocolea tagawae (Kit
ag.) Schust., Jackiella angustifolia Herz. and Plagiochila bantamensis
(Reinw. et al.) Dum. are reported as new for Western Melanesia.
