Abstract
6 patients employed in the metalworking industry developed a hand derm atitis after exposure to a vegetable-oil-based cutting fluid. After th orough investigation, including patch testing with components in the c utting fluid as well as an oil and cutting fluid series, contact aller gy was demonstrated to a fatty acid ester EM-550 in the cutting fluid.
