Abstract
In order to achieve more effective utilization of light for color LCD panel, a new bright reflective multi-color LCD has been developed by o ptimizing the TFT-LCD structure with high pixel opening ratio, diffuse d reflection of pixel electrodes of TFTs, bright color filters and PCG H(Phase Change Guest Host)display mode. We have proposed a novel TFT s tructure, that is Bright Reflective Pixel on Passivation structure, in which reflective electrode is stacked up on the TFT coated with acryl ic resins as passivation. A 4.9 inch diagonal matrix display of 240 x 320 x 2 dots with dot size of 310 mum x 155 mum has been fabricated, o f which sufficient brightness and wide viewing angle are obtained unde r the room light. This backlightless thin reflective LCD with law powe r consumption will be applicable to various personal intelligent infor mation tools.
