Abstract
A simple scheme for efficient pulse shortening of conventional electri c discharge excimer lasers through the use of liquid surface breakdown is suggested. It is shown that this scheme is applicable in a wide sp ectral range and allows approximately 40 ps pulses to be obtained with one discharge modulus.
