A wide-band laser, containing in the amplitude-anisotropic resonator a
strongly absorbing atomic medium subjected to a longitudinal magnetic
field, is considered. The resonances of the generation power of such
a laser, arising within absorption dips, are shown to come about from
the rotation of the polarization plane in the medium. Such resonances
are proposed to be used for measuring great optical densities. In this
way optical densities of potassium vapor at various temperatures have
been determined at the frequencies of the resonant doublet.
