Abstract
An association between HLA DR4 and the development of multiple basal c ell carcinomas (BCC) and malignant melanoma (MM) was detected in south ern Australia. There were highly significant differences in HLA DR fre quencies between patients with multiple BCCs and MM and matched patien ts with multiple BCCs only. These findings suggest that hereditary fac tors associated with the HLA system influence what types of multiple s kin cancers people develop.
