Abstract
The reaction between alkynes and cyclopropylcarbene-tungsten and molyb denum complexes has been examined. Depending upon the conditions of th e reaction, either cycloheptadienones or furanones are obtained. The s cope, limitation, and mechanistic rationale for observed selectivities are discussed.
