We report the first experimental proof of type V intermittency in an e
lectronic relaxation oscillator. The return maps obtained experimental
ly have confirmed the collision of the discontinuity with a stable fix
ed point at criticality. The measured average laminar lengths also sho
w a good logarithmic dependence on the parameter distance from the cri
tical value. The numerical study reveals that a special kind of discon
tinuity can appear as a critical phenomenon and plays an important rol
e in this intermittency.
