Stress relaxation of the partially peeled aluminium-adhesive aluminium
joint has been studied in order to explore correlation between relaxa
tion phenomenon and performance of the adhesive joint The adhesive is
based on a self-vulcanisable rubber blend of chlorobutyl rubber and ca
rboxylated nitrile rubber DePending on the adhesive composition and th
e mode of failure (cohesive or interfacial) of the adhesive joint, the
peel stress relaxation mechanism varies.
