AN AUTOMATIC DIELECTRIC FILM COATING UNIT

This paper describes a completely automatic and programmable dielectri c film coating unit in which the switching operations of boat current, closing and opening of the boats etc. are self controlled and synchro nized electronically with the completion of each quarter wave layer. T he required number of alternate and spacer layers are to be preset bef ore the system is switched ON. The proposed system is useful in the fa brication of high quality interference filters and laser mirrors with less demand on the skill of the operator.
