Abstract
Electric utilities are constantly seeking advanced methods for generat ing electricity to meet the future demand. The primary motivation for the development of advanced technologies is to generate electricity wi th minimum damage to the environment and with resources that are abund ant. The utility planner evaluates the role of these technologies in t he future system considering both quantifiable and nonquantifiable ben efits and risks involved.
